The square of San Pietro Caveoso, with a rectangular plan, has a beautiful view on the ravine highlighted by an arch placed on the left of the homonymous church. A view that offers a particular glimpse of the Murgia facing with its cave churches and on the right the ridge with the ’empty dark circles’, natural cavities adapted, in the distant times, to pastoral needs.
The square is dominated by the emerging Monterrone rocky boulder, from the top of which it almost seems that a huge boulder, in precarious balance, must come down at any moment. In 1947 a series of works remodeled the square with the construction of the wall at the base of the Monterrone which can be seen on the right.
